She's Leavin', On a Jet Plane

Don't know when she'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to see you go.
One last hug between big brother (better known to our family as Bubba) and little sissy.
A look of surprise on Nikki's face prompted by her Bubba's offer of "an extra $50 in it for you if you order a body cavity search" to the security checkpoint officer.
Nikki's moment of angst while the security officer 'pretended' to be considering the offer. She played along good naturedly.
Nikki's look of triumph when the officer determined "no body cavity search required".
You can't see it very well, but she's wearing a shirt her brother bought her for Christmas. It reads "Homeschool Valedictorian", which she was, in our homeschool! ;-)
For anyone who doesn't normally read my blog, the above pictures are of my daughter, Nikki, at DFW Airport last week. She spent three weeks of August with us before going on to visit and say goodbye to other friends and family. She's spending two weeks in Florida with her best friend right now, then she's leaving for England to live there. I'm not as sad as I was the first few days after she left, nor am I as sad as I will likely be when I know she's left Florida for overseas. My little chick just loves to flap her wings. :-)

What a wonderful post. I can tell that brother and sister are really close.

It's tough to say good-bye after an extended visit, huh?

Agh! What wonderful pictures. I love how you all could find humor in the situation. It's better to laugh than cry!
God Bless you all! I'm sure that you will be in touch a lot.
Peace.

She's a beautiful girl. You did a great job in raising them, they obviously love each other a lot! How exciting for her! Maybe you'll get a trip to England out of all this?

What sweet pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. I cannot even imagine having a child move overseas!! I'm sure it's tough. What's that saying, if you love them, let them go?? I need some prayers before mine are that age!

Love you!

Your daughter is beautiful! Living in England, wow, lucky girl! Is she going to blog her experience? I'd love to see it if she does. I almost went to nursing school in England and have an English "mum". I have only been there once but LOVED it!

It's a good thing that things are not so tense in security as they were - people have been arrested for joking with airport security! It's such a brother-sister thing to do! LOL

I just found your blog via Tracy's post on the Waffle Knit dishcloths.

Wonderful to "meet" you! I can relate to seeing the grown children leave - our oldest son just flew in for a few hours, but now he and his family have to leave and go settle in their new home in MS.

No matter how old my children are, they're still my children!

LOVED the pictures!!! Airports can be so hard with all the tears and good-bys! Thank God for big, husky brothers and their senses of humor when you need it! I know you will miss your daughter, but what a great opportunity to travel and see the world!!!! You've done your job well, now watch her FLY!!!!!!

Cora

PS: Thank you so much for your love and encouragement! It means all the world to me!!! I hope you know that!

This little note may be lost in the midst of all the others but thank you for stopping by and visiting. I know how you feel about those of ours that leave for far flung places that seem so far away. But our oldest daughter and family lived in England for a year (Mundesley, on the North Sea, a lovely village just north of Norwich!) We got to visit and they had a wonderful opportunity to grow and learn. I thanked God for the internet, and digital pics. You will too! God Bless you!! Cathy

Hi Renna.
Thanks for dropping by, I wanted to come by and see how *U* were doing *smile* and give you a ((hugz)).
My daughter loves seeing the pic of your cute doggy, it just makes us both giggle!!

That is why you raised her to be independant, right? So she would not be afraid to leave that nest and go find her own way. Many parents who have grown children move back in with them, would love to be in your shoes. : )

She is a lovely young woman, no wonder you are so proud of her...I envy her stay in England, we were there in the 80s and loved it, know she will too...lots of adventures and explorations, I am sure...sad for
you, I know but a good excuse to go yourselves!

I love these photos Renna. Your girlie will surely be missed, but I know you want God's very best for her, and he can use ALL things together for good to those who love him. She was KNIT together by a wonderful creator.
Wish I could have seen her while she was in Baltimore.

You are so good about visiting my blog and commenting. That's the extra little gift...the commenting part. Thank you.

I really enjoyed seeing these pictures of your kids. Nikki is beautiful, and it's so nice to see her after hearing of her for so long. She is beautiful. I am loving her hairstyle. It's very feminine and frames her smile. I know you will miss her. Is it hard to believe your children are raised? It is sometimes mind boggling to me to think how old my big kids are, and how life changes.
