Pepper Saga-Part Deux

It's still raining here in northeast Texas, which means all photos must be taken inside. This is Pepper, looking a little shy. He's actually a beautiful dog when clipped. His former owner, my neighbor L, insisted on paying for a trip to the groomer and vet as parting gifts for Pepper. We went to the vet last week and got his shots updated, and new flea and heartworm preventative meds. We're waiting for warmer weather to arrive and stay before getting his curls shorn.
We took Leyna along for the ride. She was happy as a lark to be going on an outing. That dog's just like Mr. Studley, she loves to GO. She ran over to the lawn area where all the dogs do their 'bizness' before entering the vet. She marked the territory as hers, then happily trotted back over to us. As we opened the door for her to enter, she suddenly realized where she was. She knew this place. She'd been here before. This is the place where the mean people jabbed a needle in her hiney, and she was having no more of that! We literally had to drag her inside with all four feet sliding across the floor, as she refused to take a single step forward. Yeah, she just loves going to the vet. Not.
Pepper really does have the sweetest eyes I think I've ever seen on a dog. These pictures don't do him justice.
One of my blogging buddies, Joansie, at Knitting By The Ocean, unwittingly gave me an idea of how to pawn Pepper off get Pepper a really great new home and family. She sent me a link to Pioneer Woman's blog post yesterday. Now, if you've read PW's blog, you know she's a real sucker for dogs. All shapes and sizes, the woman does love dogs. I love them, too, but from all appearances, PW can better afford taking on a new dog than I. For the record, Joansie had no idea of the scheme I'd hatch when she sent me that link.
So, after reading PW's blog post yesterday, it occurred to me that PW would probably love Pepper. All I need to do is drive to northern Oklahoma, find PW's ranch, drop Pepper off at the end of the drive, and scoot him toward her house. Don't worry, I'll stay parked nearby until I know he's been discovered.

PW will take one look at that face and invite him right in to nap on her couch. I'm just sure of it! She might even feed him some of Charlie's food with bacon grease stirred in it.

Now, all I need are the directions to Pioneer Woman's ranch. Anyone?

PW, I wuv you!

If you do go to PW's, I wanna go with you!! We'll get ourselves invited in for a tour of the grounds, house, and lodge, and just hide Pepper somewhere - sure to be found after we're gone.

PW will never figure it out.

Too funny!!! If you and MSM go to PW, wait for me but give me a couple of days to get there.

I can really chuckle because I currently don't have any pets to care for. I love my daughters' animals, they pay the vet bill, and I get to enjoy them.

Not only does he have the sweetest eyes, but his face just seems so bashful in these photos.

I wonder if when we all arrive at PW's house if she'll make some of her fabulous food to thank us all for bringing the dog to her???

Oh Renna. You are a dear, sweet, dog-loving heart. Pepper is lucky to have you. I wonder if you will be able to eventually take him to visit your neighbor in her facility when she settles in. That would be a treat for them both.

I know how you feel about the dog problem. We got a cute chocolate lab pup nine years ago and after a year decided to add a black lab to the pack!!Wrong!! Now we have two big demanding energetic dogs to look after--too much---so, grit your teeth and rehome Pepper.

I didn't know she was from Oklahoma. I had my own dear Pepper, who died three years ago this month. I have a garden in his memory. The sweetest dog that ever was. You're right, this one has gorgeous eyes. If only I didn't have a houseful of pets myself...

I believe I just called Pepper a girl in the earlier comment. Had I seen those handsome pictures I never would have made that mistake.

Pepper is adorable, but I completely understand your reluctance to add a new family memeber.

He looks like a total fluffer-cuddle-bop.

My first dog was actually named
pepper. Pepper Lee. I was 10 when I got him.

If he's like the dog I know whom he looks a lot like, you'll find him an incredibly emotionally intelligent dog, very sensitive and very responsive and a joy to be with.

You crack me up!! Pepper is a cutie pie.

Here's what I would do. I'd go on petfinder.com and see what it takes to list a pet. You might need to be a licensed shelter. If so, you might be able to find a local shelter on there that would allow you to list Pepper under their name.

Since you are doing such a good deed. I think it would be completely fine to start a Help With Pepper fund on your blog. I'll just bet there are lots of souls out there who would love to help with Pepper.

What a sweet dog! I am sorry you got Pepper in such sad circumstances. It was very kind of you to care for him and I am sure your neighbor appreciates it so much. I am sure pepper misses his mom too. How sad. He could come live with us if we lived closer. I bet someone will be able to give him a good home. Keep praying for that someone to come. In the meantime give him lots of hugs and kisses and let him know that you love him and he isn't alone.

Well aren't you the clever one to "cook" up the PW plan. Hmmm....... I'd better check my peep hole in my front door before I say this......... but my sweet husband is a dog sucker and would take him in a heartbeat. Then he'd go to work and leave the dog business for me to take care of. Ha!

I hope someone close to you will come to your rescue. In the meantime, don't look into those sad eyes too long or else you'll be smittened.

awwwwww how can you give away a face like that!! He is such a beautiful little dog! I'd take him in a heart beat but I have Asthma so I'm restricted to what kind of breeds I can own. There are only a few types of dogs that don't make me really sick. Well that and my hubby said if I got a third dog he'd kill me lol

LOVE the pics Renna! And your idea is inspired! lol You'll probably have to get in line, though, at the end of her drive after her last few posts and how she took in that stray. :)

Come back by anytime. And I LOVE your verse quotes at the end of your posts. :)

What a cute dog! I'm sure he will be very happy with you in his new home!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, it is lambing time, and what a time. Good when all goes well, and very sad when it doesn't. My husband used to keep sheep before I came along. Now we have one (he promised me a lamb when we got married) which we keep with friends. They have a wee flock of 14. And two of them had their lambs today! So cute. But the weather is still foul. Anyway, I had hoped to learn to knit using Rosebud's first fleece (he will be 1 soon), but it is all falling out, as sometimes happens with year-old lambs!

Pepper is a cutie. Somehow I didn't think you'd be able to give him up. Nice plan though.
